Really though why the fuck did we think having an OTP in a show about zombies and death and sadness was a good idea?

We didn’t think. Or I didn’t. It just slammed into…

Wow. You all really know how to choke the life out of a party, don’t ya? MAN. I need some damn ice cream now.

Diana started it!

WHOA! Hello! The original post started it!!! Lol It says “…a show about zombies and death and sadness…” I just brought up that I agree because I already went through tragedy with a ship on this show. And btw this is the post I was referring to earlier.

I think ya’ll need to buck up!! Come and talk to me when you have 4 otps that have ended in tragic deaths!!

"The original post started it!!!"

We didn’t think. Or I didn’t. It just slammed into me like a freight train. I didn’t even have the opportunity to try and dodge it.

Same.

I didn’t choose Bethyl.  Bethyl chose me.

I’ve asked myself this very same question. I made a post about it but I can’t be bothered to find it on mobile. Because what does it say about me that I decided to have two otps from this show?? And one has already met it’s tragic “end”. The only conclusion I can come up with is after Loris death I’m essentially emotionally dead anyway so what’s one more tragic ship?? ;)

No.  Stop it.  Bethyl will be canon and they will be happy for a few seasons because Daryl Dixon deserves happiness after never having any in all of his years.  Will one or both of them meet a tragic end?  Probably.  But not before we get to see them happy TOGETHER.  Keep Calm and Bethyl on!

Haha hey you calm down! I didn’t say they wouldn’t ever be happy I just assume there will ultimately a tragic ending :(

Also I meant to say that I agree with those of you who said you had no choice in the matter. I blame the end of Alone. And tbh, Norman & Emily for being too lovely together.

Just thinking…we got so excited over Norman & Emily just holding up bethyl fanart, imagine what it’ll be like when they can actually freely talk about the ship and ya know, ship openly ;) —this is of course considering bethyl goes canon but I don’t want to jinx anything hah. This time next year (well before, really), I hope to be just swimming in normily quotes about (canon) bethyl 😍

tinuviel-undomiel asked: Honestly, I don't really want Emma with anyone. I just don't see her with anyone, not even Neal. I always felt like the only guy she ever needed is Henry, that he's her true love (not romantically obviously) so really I'm not an Emma shipper at all. I just don't see her as needing anyone other than her son.

phoenixwrites:

I felt the same way till we first met Neal—then I fell in love with the poetry of the pairing, the idea of darkness and light meeting.  Emma, the daughter of Snow White and Charming as light, Neal, the son of Rumplestiltskin, the Dark One, as darkness.  I loved that their son represented those two ideas merging and forming a bridge between the two opposing families.  I love that it was a lost girl meeting a lost boy, finding each other, obliviously unaware that they came from the same magical world.

This idea is so literary and such a great mirroring, it’s why I will maintain to my dying day that Swanfire was supposed to be endgame when they originally conceived the series.  They created two original characters, characters of their very own—Emma and Neal—and they could’ve had something really incredible with that pairing.  But instead, the publicity of Hook won out and they took the lazy writing way out, and for that…well, you guys know.  It ruined the show for me.

I totally get what you’re saying, and honestly, if they’d ended the entire series with Emma single and only the barest hint of her and Neal, I probably would’ve been fine with it.  But it’s also sort of personal to me and here is where I stray from my careful literary praise to my personal opinion.

I relate to Emma.  I connect with her.  We both isolate ourselves, we both hate the messiness of emotional entanglements and build walls to shut the pain and fear of heartbreak out.  The idea that after all the hardships Emma’s endured, that she could have a family again and true love with her son, as well as a beautiful, fairytale romance with Neal—that’s comforting to me.  That hits me on a personal level.  That tells me to keep believing in love.

Whereas the idea of her falling for a shallow, poorly redeemed pretty-boy pirate for no other reason than him existing and being pretty makes me doubt whether or not the writers have any concept of what love is.

I COMPLETELY AGREE.

Yes, all of this. Sigh. Sometimes I still have trouble believing this is real. That they truly did write that mess of a thing that is 3B
